$ 76,000.00                              Lancaster County PA

In April of 2017, the Lancaster County dog bite lawyer obtained a $76,000.00 Lancaster County dog attack settlement for a Reinholds PA resident. Two years earlier, her car had been parked in front of her residence on Mechanic Street when it was struck by a hit and run driver. The woman believed that the offending driver had just left the home of one of her neighbors. When she knocked on their front door, a child opened the door and two pit bulls came barging out of the residence.

The larger pit bull, Chaos, bit her on the left arm. The pit bull owner came out of the house to subdue her dogs and exclaimed, “I know we have mean dogs and that’s why we keep them inside.” The Lancaster County dog bite victim was treated at Ephrata Community Hospital for multiple lacerations and puncture wounds to her upper left extremity. The dog attack wounds were cleansed and four sutures were used to close the largest laceration.

Antibiotics and pain killer medications were prescribed and she was advised to follow up with her family physician. Two days later, she met with the doctor. He changed her medication and referred her back to the hospital for further evaluation. The physicians at Ephrata Community Hospital were concerned that an infection had set in, so they admitted her. Over the next three days, a variety of tests were performed and she was diagnosed as suffering from “significant left wrist and left elbow cellulitis.”

Upon her discharge, the Pennsylvania dog bite victim was evaluated by an infectious disease specialist due to the infection and neurologic problems. The woman complained of shooting pains into her left pinky and up her left forearm. Two days later, the Lancaster County dog attack attorney provided a free home consultation. Attorney Thomas J. Newell gathered all of the relevant information regarding the unprovoked pit bull attack, as well as the details of his client’s significant injuries.

Additional care was rendered by a Lancaster Orthopedic surgeon. He fitted her with a brace, advised her to continue using the sling and scheduled her for an EMG. During the course of his testing, the specialist noted two areas of deceased sensation in her left hand. Physical therapy was prescribed and 18 sessions took place over the ensuing 10 weeks. Unfortunately, a lack of insurance coverage caused the woman to discontinue this medical treatment.

Once her medical care had ended, the Lancaster County dog attack lawyer ordered all of her medical records, medical bills and current photographs. The photos visualized the permanent scars remaining on his client’s arm/wrist. Attorney Newell sent all of those documents, along with a 14 page settlement demand letter to the defense adjuster. This document identified the pit bull owner’s violation of the PA Dog Law and itemized each and every individual aspect of the dog attack victim’s damage claim.

Not only did the Lancaster County dog bite attorney obtain a $76,000.00 pit bull attack settlement for his client, he did so without having to file a lawsuit versus her neighbor. Attorney Newell also negotiated a significant discount regarding an outstanding medical bill.

On 4/9/19, the Lancaster County dog bite attorney provided a free consultation to a New Holland man. He was riding his bicycle on a shared driveway when his neighbor’s dog bit him on his right calf. While the dog was on a chain, it was too long and didn’t stop the aggressive canine from straying off of its property.

The attorney for dog attacks in Lancaster County, PA advised the Lancaster County resident to promptly receive medical treatment and obtain an anti-infection medication prescription. A dog’s mouth contains many viruses that humans don’t have. An untreated dog bite wound with broken skin is fertile ground for an infection.
