$ 101,000.00                       Susquehanna County PA

In October of 2017, the Susquehanna County dog attack attorney obtained the maximum insurance policy settlement of $101,000.00 after a 2016 unprovoked PA dog attack in Brackney Pennsylvania. An older gentleman was dropping off some legal notices to homeowners who were behind on their mortgage payments. As he approached the front door, a large mixed breed pit bull came out of the house. The pit bull mix was neither restrained nor under the supervision of any adult.

The vicious dog pursued the man and then bit him multiple times on his legs. He attempted to ward off the pit bull mix with a shovel, but the aggressive canine continued to attack. The Harveys Lake resident was finally able to escape the jaws of the pit bull mix and ran back to his automobile. Fortunately, the Susquehanna County dog attack victim was able to drive himself to the nearby Endless Mountain Health Systems Hospital in Montrose Pennsylvania.

The Emergency Room physician’s notes identified four large lacerations to the man’s left calf, as well as three separate puncture wounds. On the front of his leg there was a significant laceration just below his left knee. The doctor also observed a six centimeter wide wound to the left calf with subcutaneous tissue exposed. A tetanus shot was given and an IV with antibiotics was put in place. While the physician was reluctant to suture the numerous dog bite wounds, he was required to do so in order to stop the bleeding.

Multiple Lidocaine injections were needed prior to the doctor cutting away the dead tissue and stitching the dog attack wounds. He was given a prescription for Augmentin and advised to promptly follow-up with his family physician. Two days later, this doctor conducted a complete evaluation. He noted that six different dog bite attack wounds had been sutured. All of the lacerations were cleaned and new bandages were put in place after antibiotic ointment had been applied.

Over the next five months, the Luzerne County resident treated with his family doctor on nine additional dates. A number of the dog bite wounds had become infected. There was significant swelling, discoloration and pus drainage. On two separate occasions, the physician injected the elderly man with a local anesthetic and then cut into the infected wounds. This released a build-up of pus and allowed the doctor to cut away dead tissue.

In the meantime, the gentleman hired a well-known Northeast PA personal injury attorney. After taking some initial steps, the lawyer decided that the case needed the expertise of the Susquehanna County dog bite lawyer. The dog attack claim was referred to Attorney Thomas J. Newell. He promptly ordered investigative documents regarding the pit bull mix from State Officials in Harrisburg.

Your attorney for dog attacks in Susquehanna County PA obtained proof of three prior unprovoked attacks by the vicious dog. Medical records, medical bills, Medicare payout logs and photographs depicting the permanent dog bite scars were acquired by Attorney Newell’s office. A detailed 20 page demand letter was drafted that itemized all of the damages and injuries sustained in this unprovoked pit bull mix attack. The Susquehanna County dog bite injury lawyer convinced the defendants’ homeowners insurance carrier to pay its liability policy limit of $100,000.o0, along with the med-pay coverage of $1,000.00 before filing a lawsuit.
