Pit Bull Attacks in York County Just Days After Adopted From Maryland Shelter

Posted on: January 31st, 2014  padog

A 1/28/14 article from abc2news.com detailed the January 20th PA pit bull attack that left 3 people injured.  Just a few days earlier, a woman from East Hopewell Township had adopted a pit bull from the BARCS shelter in Baltimore, MD.  An article from The York Dispatch quotes a Pennsylvania State Trooper who stated that the animal shelter claimed: “three veterinarians recommended him (the pit bull) for adoption.”

The pit bull allegedly broke free from its owner and attacked 2 brothers, ages 10 & 11, while they were playing basketball on their own driveway.  Their mother ran to their aid and she was also attacked by this vicious pit bull.  All 3 PA dog bite victims received medical care at a local hospital.  The pit bull has been euthanized and rabies testing results should be forthcoming shortly.

Oreo Doing Well & Restitution Being Paid to Allentown Dog Attack Victim

Posted on: January 13th, 2014  padog

On January 9, 2014, PA dog bite attorney Thomas J. Newell spoke with Oreo’s owner and confirmed that the spunky Cockapoo was progressing well in his recovery from the serious injuries he sustained in a pit bull attack on 2/4/13.  On that date, an unrestrained pit bull had mauled the tiny Cockapoo outside his home on Pearl Street in Allentown, PA.

Attorney Newell was hired by Oreo’s 49 year-old owner and her elderly father who were also injured in this unprovoked pit bull attack.  The Allentown, PA pit bull owner was charged by the Salisbury Township Police with violating the PA Dog Law regarding failure to confine and harboring a dangerous dog.

On 3/28/13, Attorney Newell and the defendant’s lawyer agreed to a guilty plea arrangement which included the defendant’s agreement to pay court fines/costs, as well as $3,624.99 in restitution via a monthly payment plan which has resulted in over $1,000.00 being provided to the victim as of December, 2013.
