On June 18, 2013, Attorney Thomas J. Newell was hired by a Monroe County dog bite victim. The woman was walking her golden retriever on a leash by a public lake. The elderly defendant was walking 2 adult Akitas when they broke free from her and began an unprovoked attack on the innocent victim.
She threw up her left arm to protect her face. The Akitas bit her arm and knocked her down. As she was kicking at the Akita dogs to save herself, the negligent defendant stood by and watched.
